In the 1930 World Cup, the USA won 3–0 over Belgium and 3–0 over Paraguay. It is the first time since then that a three-goal win has been registered in a similar fashion. Moreover, this is the first time for the American team to score four goals in a single World Cup match.
In this match, Folarin Balogun showed a brilliant performance for America with two goals. Giovanni Reyna also made his mark on the score. Damian Bobadilla conceded an unfortunate own goal for Paraguay. Mauricio scored the lone goal for the visitors.
